| I am getting married to Kristin in only 10 days!
I realize this is not a very extensive update by any means, but I'm actually getting married! This is crazy!

| Hello all.
The intensity of mono has passed. My liver and spleen are still a little funky, but I have energy again and feel normal. Big props to that.
I really like working a lot. It's pretty weird that I get to go to a place and do something for 8 hours and then money appears in my bank account. I think that's pretty cool. Actually, it is pretty cool. I'm trying to save a lot of money because I'm getting married and I don't want to be poor. It would also be cool to buy a house or some such, so we'll see how that goes. That will definitely make me poor.
Covance is a good place. Everyone is really nice, and I have a cubicle. But it's a pretty nice cubicle with high walls and I have a partial window view of the Ryman. Working downtown in Nashville is pretty cool, too. I get free parking at any time downtown, and there are lots of cool places to eat lunch and walk around and enjoy the day and all the people around town. You even run into people randomly, like how on Friday I wandered up to the Arcade and was waiting on my food, when Brett Walker walked in the door. Crazy. Then, today, I was eating a gyro and I see Bonnie Holmes walk by, so I call her and she comes back and we chat over pita bread. What a crazy world working downtown.
Now, I will interrupt my thoughts with a great story from today. I was heading home and I got on the elevator. There was only one other person in the elevator...this one lady. So I get on and the doors close, and we start heading down, and she sorta crouches down a bit and pumps her fist saying "You think we're going to make it?" I respond with "I sure hope so!" Then, this lady looks up at the floor number light and starts chanting "Go, Go, Go, GO, GO, GO!, Yaaaaaay!" And we reached the bottom. I then hurried out the door.
I also went to Princeton, NJ, where the headquarters are, for some training and orientation. Who knew a few months ago I'd be hanging out in Princeton, NJ with 3 old ladies. Pret-ty-cra-zy. I guess they're not really that old, but definitely way older than me.
I live with Bryan Harris. He studies a lot. But he goofs off a lot, too.
Kristin is teaching here in Nashville. It is nice to have her around. Very nice.
I just saw the movie This is...Spinal Tap the other day. It was quite enjoyable.
Pau Gasol broke his foot. Bad news for the Grizz.
Chris Reitsma still sucks, but at least they don't let him pitch anymore. Now he just sucks at life. They made up a reason to put him on the DL a while ago, and it was a good thing, but the Braves have failed for the first time in ages to make the postseason, and I am depressed.
I went to Huntsville last weekend to visit Nathan and to go to the Big Spring Jam. There I saw the storied group Boyz II Men. They said I was their "dog." It was pretty incredible.
I should end this now, and go to bed, for I now have to get up like a normal person. Maybe I am a normal person?

| Oh xanga, I have not shown you love since october, yet you wait for me, you allow me to comment, and you remain the same. I thank you xanga for sticking by me, and now I have returned to your side.
First, I would like to point out some notable achievements of my xanga in the time I was away. 1. My xanga was as high as the #2 result on Yahoo! search if you searched for the phrase "chris reitsma sucks." People actually did search for this, someone in Alabama and in Florida, and it led them to my site. 2. Chris Reitsma still sucks and now he's not playing because he is "hurt," which basically means they made up an excuse for him not to play because he is worthless.
Now, I shall provide a quick recap of my life since October. 1. I was addicted to darts. 2. I lived in a place called the Secret Grotto. 3. I went to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to do Katrina cleanup. It was an amazing experience, and a smell I will never forget. 4. Christmas was pleasant as always. 5. I became engaged to Kristin Furman on February 17, 2006. High-fives all around. 6. I went to Chicago lots of times to visit Kristin, and I went over Spring break on a mission trip to the Wrigleyville area. 7. I saw a Cardinals/Cubs game on opening weekend at Wrigley in -80 degree temperatures. 8. I am addicted to 24. 9. I worked in a lab all summer with yeast cells and this Indian guy named Sivam, who I taught all about America. 10. I went to a bajillion weddings this summer. 11. I have acquired a job with a biotech company called Covance in downtown Nashville, TN. I start on the 28th. 12. I have acquired a horrible illness known as mononucleosis, and I hate it.
So there's my life recap up to now. I'll fill in a few other details now on the more interesting things.
With regards to the engagement to Miss Kristin, I'm very excited! We will be getting married on June 16, 2007 in Memphis, TN. In addition, I have been hard at work on our Wedding Website. It is still being constructed, but there is some actual content on there, just not enough pictures yet. Seeing as I'm sick with mono and laying around all the time, I'm working on it. Let me know what you think about it, however. I'm going to try to get a snappy url for it soon, too, like ryanandkristin2007.com or something. Any suggestions?
I am also very excited about my new job! Covance is a very reputable company and I think I've got a good job and a good offer. I'll be a Clinical Site Activation Associate, which I think means I'll be a primary contact with places that are starting up clinical trials and I'll make sure they are doing everything ethically and by regulations. I was supposed to start on the 21st, but they were very cool and let me push it back to the 28th because I have....
Mono! Yes, the evil being that lives inside me: the Epstein-Barr virus. I have discovered that this virus will now live inside me for the rest of my life, and I can continually give off the virus in my saliva forever. Yuck. However, the mono infection should be gone in another 2-3 weeks, and then maybe I'll feel better. Although I could feel tired for up to 6 months afterward. This is the most sick I have ever been. I have a huge swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck, my spleen and liver are enlarged, and I have a sinus infection and two ear infections on top of it all. Good times. The worst of it all is just not having any energy whatsoever, and the intense fevers that can spring up: the last two nights were at 104 and 103.5 degrees. I'm afraid my brain is going to melt.
Anyway, I shall recover, and I'm here at home in Memphis where I can just lay around and do nothing except eat popsicles, so I'm ok.
Welcome back, me, to the xanga world, it's been a while, but I don't think it'll be a while until our paths once again cross.

| I have decided randomly to write a short xanga, because I want to.
I dislike Chris Reitsma, and always will. I am unhappy about the Braves losing. I now fully want the Cardinals to win the World Series.
Some funny/interesting occurances that have happened:
1. On Friday I was eating lunch with Scott Allen at Cheeseburger Charley's. Good stuff, catching up on BCM stuff, and there were a couple old people sitting next to us. One interrupts us, and asks Scott, "Hey, pardon me, but are you part of the Dickey clan from Fayetteville?" Scott replies, "No, but is it because of my spot?" They say, "Yeah! All the Dickey's have a white streak in their hair!" Scott says, "You're not the first people to ask."
2. The Dominator has transferred!! This is sad news, and he's moved on to Columbia. I guess he dominated Vandy enough to move on to the next school. I will miss the completely awkward, yet awesome interactions that I had with the one, the only, The Dominator.
3. I really really really really dislike Chris Reitsma.
4. On Friday we went to a dance club for Neal's birthday called the Red Iguana. It was incredibly lame.
5. Also on Friday night, I helped with the youth lock-in at First Baptist from 2am-7am. It was intense and the kids were cool, although not as much interaction as I had hoped for. We played this game called "Underground Church" for a long time and it was basically manhunt. Later, I played hangman with a bunch of kids, but this one girl insisted on only doing lame 80s movies that no one had heard of, so it wasn't as fun as it could have been. I think that's all I can think of now, although I remember having funnier and more random things to put on here, but I've forgotten them now.

| So here it is.
Senior year. The time has come. I'm heading back up to Nashville in an hour. Rockin' good times will ensue.
I'm very excited about this year. The BCM Leadership retreat is going to be Thursday and Friday, and I'm very excited, but also very nervous. I'm supposed to be some kind of helpful leader or something, and I'm not sure how exactly I'll do that, but I know that God led me here, and I know He's going to take care of me and show me what I need to do. I have total faith that God will do wonders this year through our group on campus, and I'm very excited about that.
Faith and obedience are key.
What will make this year different and better than all the rest? I guess I've worried about that, just wondering if I won't or can't do anything that can change things for the better. But, I want to, and God wants us to continue to strive after Him. So as long as we focus on Him, things will rock.
Dude, the Chaffins are going to be awesome.
This summer was grrrreat. And now the intensity begins.
On a side note....my brother has a xanga now! Welcome to the world of xanga, bro!
